Best Smart Rings 2026: Only Four Brands Are Worth Your Money
Search Amazon for a smart ring and most of what comes back is unbranded. Only four companies sell one we would put a name behind. Here is what each of them publishes, and where the numbers stop being flattering.
The category is smaller than it looks
Search Amazon for a smart ring and you will get pages of results. Look at the brand names and the picture changes: Mirlray, POBOVi, and a long run of listings whose brand is literally the phrase "Smart Ring for Women & Men". Only four companies sell a smart ring in the US that we would put a name behind. Oura, Samsung, RingConn and Amazfit. That is the whole market.
It used to be five. Ultrahuman made the Ring Air, and it was the interesting one, the ring the athletes talked about. It is gone. Amazon sells Ultrahuman chargers, Ultrahuman phone cases and an Ultrahuman sleep mask, and no Ultrahuman ring. Ultrahuman's own website returns a 404 for the Ring Air, and its buy page now redirects to a pre-order for a different ring. If you read a 2026 smart ring roundup that still ranks the Ring Air, the writer did not check.
A smart ring is not a medical device. Every ring here reads your pulse optically from the underside of your finger, which works well when you are still and badly when you are moving hard. Useful for trends. Not for diagnosis. See a clinician for that.
#1 Oura Ring 5, and the subscription nobody else charges
Oura calls the Ring 5 the world's smallest smart ring and says it is 40% smaller than the Ring 4. On a thing you wear to bed every night, that is worth more than any figure on a spec sheet. Oura rates it at 6 to 9 days, says it tracks over 50 metrics, and connects to more than 40 apps. It talks to both Android and iPhone, which the Samsung does not.
Then there is the money. Oura charges $5.99 a month for Membership after a free first month, and it is the only ring on this page that charges anything after you have bought it. Keep it three years and that is roughly $210 on top of a ring that already costs the most here. Oura ties the membership to your account rather than the ring, so replacing the hardware does not reset the clock either.

#2 Samsung Galaxy Ring, if you carry an Android
Samsung charges you once and never again, and over three years that is roughly the entire price gap against an Oura. Samsung rates it at up to 7 days, one day short of the Oura Ring 4, and the concave body is designed to keep scratches off it. It is HSA/FSA eligible.
Read the compatibility line before you spend anything. Samsung's own listing says, in capitals, ANDROID ONLY. It works with Android smartphones, not just Samsung ones, so a Pixel is fine. An iPhone is not. It will not pair at all.
#3 Oura Ring 4, the same app for less money
The Ring 4 is still on sale, it runs the same app, it takes the same membership, and it costs less than the Ring 5. Oura rates it at 5 to 8 days and 100m of water resistance. The only thing you give up is size.
It is also the one product on this page where the manufacturer will tell you exactly what the sensors are, which is why we can name them: red and infrared LEDs for blood oxygen, green and infrared for heart rate, HRV and respiration, one digital temperature sensor, and an accelerometer. Most of this category will not tell you that.
#4 RingConn Gen 2 Air, the longest battery here by a distance
RingConn rates the Gen 2 Air at 10 days on a charge, and that beats every other ring on this page outright, including both Ouras. It is also the thinnest and lightest thing here at 2mm and 2.5g, it is rated IP68 and tested to 100m, it is the cheapest of the five, and it is HSA/FSA eligible.
One phrase deserves your attention. RingConn promises "no subscription fee for standard features". That is not the same promise Samsung and Amazfit make, and the non-standard features are left unnamed. RingConn is also a much smaller company than Oura or Samsung, so buying one is a bet that the app is still being maintained in three years.
#5 Amazfit Helio Ring, the only one with an EDA sensor
Every other ring on this page infers your stress from your heart rate. The Helio carries an EDA sensor, which reads the electrical conductance of your skin, and that is a genuinely different measurement. It also has the toughest water rating here at 10 ATM, a titanium alloy body, and it asks for no subscription at all. Amazfit says so in those words.
The price is battery. Amazfit rates it at up to 4 days, which is less than half the RingConn. It makes the most sense if you already own an Amazfit watch.

Read the qualifier, not the number
Every battery figure in this category is a best case and every maker words it to sound like a promise. Oura gives you a range (6 to 9 days) because battery life falls with ring size and with how much you track. Samsung and Amazfit say "up to", which is the same admission phrased more kindly. Assume the low end of any range you are quoted, including ours.
And budget for a sizing kit. Not one brand here includes it. All of them state that their sizes are not jewellery sizes, and Oura goes further and says the Ring 5 does not even match the sizing of older Oura rings. Oura and Samsung credit the kit back against the ring; RingConn and Amazfit do not say they do. Wear the plastic sizer for a full 24 hours, overnight included, because a finger is not the same size at 7am as it is at 9pm, and a ring that spins will not read your pulse.
Should you buy one at all?
If you already wear a watch to bed and it tracks your sleep well enough, a ring is a luxury. The honest case for a ring over a watch is that you will actually keep it on all night, and that a finger gives a cleaner optical signal than a wrist.
If you do not wear a watch to bed, which is most people, a ring is the easiest way to get continuous sleep and recovery data. Buy the Oura Ring 5 if the monthly fee does not bother you. Buy the Samsung if it does and you carry an Android. Buy the RingConn if the price is the constraint, and accept that you are betting on a smaller company. And do not buy the unbranded ones, whatever the star rating says.
