The best coffee grinders of 2026

Five coffee grinders, sorted by the job each maker says it does, not by a spec total. Every figure we quote below is printed on the product or its listing, and you can check it on the page you land on.

A grinder is bought for a workflow before it is bought for a dial. If you pull espresso and weigh your dose, you need a different machine than if you run a drip pot on Sunday morning and want one button. The five here split exactly that way, and where a listing contradicts itself we say so instead of picking a side.

Baratza Encore Coffee Grinder

9.2/10JellyReviews Score

The pick when you brew more than one way and want a single machine for it. The Encore bullet writes out a method list that runs from espresso to automatic brewers, and it pairs that with a 40-step dial and a stated one-year warranty. Nothing about the writing makes it a better grinder than anything else on this page. Covering espresso through automatic drip on one dial, while automating nothing, is the habit this fits. The trade is that nothing about it is automated. You press the button, you shake out the grounds, you stop when it looks right. It is 13.4 inches tall and takes a corner, not a shelf. Baratza calls the grind consistent and the machine durable, which is the brand talking; the checkable facts are the method sentence, the burr figures, and the warranty line, and all three are on the listing.

Pros
Its own bullet names the methods it is built to cover: espresso, AeroPress, Hario V60, Chemex, French Press, and automatic brewers
A 40-setting dial with 40mm conical burrs, and Baratza says the burrs are hardened alloy steel made in Liechtenstein
A one-year warranty printed in the listing bullet itself, not hidden in a support page
Simple to run: the listing describes a pulse button on the front and a plain on/off switch, no menus
Cons
The hopper is small: the capacity row prints 5 ounces, which will not cover a week of daily pots
The body is plastic. Its Material Type row says so plainly, and the alloy steel is reserved for the burrs
What the listing describes is a pulse button on the front and a plain on/off switch. There is no dose counter and no timer in that sentence

KRUPS

KRUPS Precision Burr Coffee Grinder GX550850

9/10JellyReviews Score

The pick for the household that mostly brews filter coffee and wants the machine to do the counting. You turn the dial, pick 2 to 12 cups, press once, and it auto-stops, which is the whole workflow. Its title names five methods including espresso, but the listing itself hedges that one with its two-finest-settings advice, so treat it as a filter grinder that covers a beginner shot rather than an espresso tool. The two-year warranty is KRUPS standing behind the product, not a seller promising you something. One caution the listing itself shows: it gives its weight and its hopper capacity as the same 8 ounces, which is a retailer field problem, not a grinder problem.

Pros
The product name itself carries the method list: drip, French press, espresso, pour over, cold brew
You set a cup count from 2 to 12 and it stops on its own, so the dose is done for you
Flat metal burrs at 12 settings, an 8-ounce hopper, and a two-year warranty stated in the listing description
Cons
On espresso, KRUPS qualifies its own claim: the listing says, for best results with espresso, use the two finest settings and freshly roasted beans. It is a grinder that reaches espresso, not one built around it
Its spec table prints Item Weight as 8 ounces, the same number its bullet and description give for the bean hopper, and a machine cannot weigh exactly what it holds. Two surfaces agree on the 8-ounce hopper, so we state that one; the weight row is a retailer error and we publish no weight for this grinder
The cup counter starts at two, and the listing prints no smaller step. A single cup is ground by eye

BUILT-IN SCALE

Baratza

Baratza Sette 270Wi Grind-by-Weight Grinder

8.8/10JellyReviews Score

This is the espresso person who likes numbers. If you weigh your dose into the portafilter already, the 270Wi is the one here built around that habit, and the macro-and-micro dial is what espresso extraction gets adjusted with. It sits below the Encore and the KRUPS on what each listing answers for a reader who brews several ways, which is the question a general grinder page is for. That is a statement about the pages, not a grade on this machine: for espresso specifically this is the more aimed of the Baratza pair, and a shot-first buyer may want to start their reading here. A filter-only buyer will never use the load cell, the dose buttons, or the Bluetooth, and will still shake grounds out of a straight-through chute. The method list it does publish (espresso, AeroPress, V60, Chemex, some drip) is narrower than the Encore sentence, and the built-in scale is the whole reason you pay for it.

Pros
Weighs as it grinds. Baratza describes it as the first espresso grinder with grind-by-weight, using Acaia load-cell technology, with three programmable dose buttons
270 grind settings, which the bullet spells out as macro plus micro adjustment for dialing in
A built-in convertible holder switches between a portafilter and the supplied grounds bin, and the spec table prints a Capacity of 0.3 kg on two rows without naming which container it measures
Cons
It is a machine with a learning curve. Its bullet reads, word for word, Macro/Micro adjustment for the most precise dial-in capabilities, and the dose buttons and Bluetooth weighing are things you operate, not set once
The listing we read carries no warranty row, so we cannot tell you a term from this page
Baratza says it grinds up to 5 grams a second with minimal retention in its straight-through path. Those are the company figures, not our measurements

OXO

OXO Brew Conical Burr Coffee Grinder, 12 oz

8.6/10JellyReviews Score

The batch brewer. A 12-ounce hopper, a one-touch timer you leave alone, and a two-year warranty put this in the kitchen where a drip pot or French press runs daily and nobody wants to babysit a dial. The catch is disclosure, and the listing carries it in two places: OXO presents its number of grind settings two ways, and the two figures do not reconcile, so the honest move is to leave the count out of the comparison entirely and buy on the timer, the hopper, and the warranty. Its highlight names drip, French press, and cold brew; its description also speaks of crafting a bold espresso. If you want a grinder you press and forget, this is built for that.

Pros
One-touch start with a timer that remembers your last setting, so the morning routine is dial, press, walk away
The description says the hopper holds 12 ounces, against the 8-ounce hopper the KRUPS bullet states and the 5-ounce capacity row the Encore prints
A two-year warranty, and the listing is current: its manufacture-year field says 2025
Cons
The listing describes its grind scale two different ways, with numbers that do not line up, so we do not use OXO setting counts anywhere in this comparison
It grinds on a dial of time, not weight. For filter batches that is fine; it is not a dosing tool

SINGLE-DOSE, STEPLESS
MiiCoffee DF64 II Single Dose Coffee Grinder
Zoom
MiiCoffee

MiiCoffee DF64 II Single Dose Coffee Grinder

8.4/10JellyReviews Score

The specialist, ranked as one and labelled as one. This is the stepless, single-dose espresso machine of the group: beans go in one dose at a time, you blow them through with the bellows, and keep your dose in the chamber rather than a hopper. MiiCoffee claims near-zero retention and an ionizer that fights static, which are maker numbers with no standard behind them, so we treat them as the company talking. The warranty is the one to understand before buying: a year, from the seller, not the manufacturer. You put this on the counter for espresso, and the day you want a lazy 12-cup batch, you will be glad the OXO exists.

Pros
Stepless dial with a metal indicator, and the listing says it can be dialed in for espresso with high precision. That is the espresso workflow written down
64mm flat stainless burrs, which MiiCoffee says are upgradable to aftermarket burr sets
A single-dose kit: bellows, dosing cup and ring, and a portafilter rest ship with it
Cons
The warranty is from the seller. The listing says one year, standard, and the seller of record is MiiCoffee US, so it is a store policy, not a manufacturer program like the three other listings here that print one
The listing copy itself talks about version 2.6 replacing 2.5, which means the machine has been revised under the same name. Read which version the bullets describe before you buy; the listing we read says 2.6
The listing we read names no filter method. If your other grinder is a drip daily, this is an espresso bench tool, not a replacement for it

How to choose the right coffee grinder

01Pick the workflow before the dial

Three jobs exist on this page. Batch filter with automation: KRUPS counts cups and stops itself, OXO remembers a time. General home brewing with your hand on the button: the Encore, whose own listing writes out espresso through automatic brewers. Espresso as a hobby: the Sette 270Wi weighs the dose for you and the DF64 II is a stepless single-dose bench.

A settings count is not a grade, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. The Encore publishes 40, the KRUPS 12, and the Sette 270 "positions" on a macro-plus-micro system that is not the same unit as either. The DF64 II has no numbered steps at all because a stepless dial has none to count. Read your method into the picture first, then read the numbers inside it.

What the score on this page means: it is ours, and it is a judgment of how confidently the machine can be matched to the buyer its own listing describes, from published facts alone. It is not a measurement of any coffee, and it is not Amazon data. Read the card, not the number.

02What the spec fields do not tell you

Warranty lines look comparable and are not. Baratza prints one year for the Encore in a bullet, KRUPS prints two years in its description, OXO says two years, and the DF64 II is one year from the seller rather than the maker. The Sette listing we read carries no warranty row at all, which is a reason to look at Baratza support, not a hidden defect.

Hopper numbers need a unit. The OXO prints 12 ounces, the KRUPS 8, and the Encore 5. And cup counts are brew output, not bean volume: the KRUPS 2-to-12 setting tells you nothing about how many grams fit. Fields drift too: the KRUPS listing gives Item Weight as 8 ounces, the same number as its hopper, and one of the two is a retailer error.

Performance adjectives on listings are merchant speech. "Consistent grind", "minimal retention", "reduces static", "near zero" and up-to-5-grams-a-second are manufacturer or seller claims with no published standard behind them. Every one of them is attributed above or left out, which is the whole method of this page.

03The contradiction we published

The OXO listing presents its grind scale two different ways, in two different fields, with numbers that do not add up to anything we could compare. We could have picked one. We did not, because a page that smooths over its own source is the page you should not trust. The count does not appear in the OXO card, the comparison table, or the winner logic, and the grinder ranks on the facts that do hold: its 12-ounce hopper, its last-setting memory, and its two-year warranty.

§ 04 · FAQ

Questions about coffee grinders

Only if you already weigh your coffee. A load cell helps you repeat a dose you dialed in once, which is what espresso people do, and the Sette 270Wi is the one listing of these five whose copy describes weighing as it grinds. If you brew by scoop and cup, the KRUPS counts cups to a set number and the OXO remembers your timer, and neither asks you to learn a menu.

It is different. Single-dose means beans go in one serving at a time and the chamber ends up empty, which is what you want when you change coffees or grind very fine. A hopper is what you want when one bag stays loaded for a week and you just press a button. The DF64 II is the single-dose pick here, and for a twelve-cup Sunday batch it is not what you are shopping for.

Because its own listing describes the scale two ways and the two numbers disagree. We do not pick sides in a contradiction we can see, so the count is off the card, off the table, and out of any comparison. The one-touch timer with its memory, the warranty, and the 12-ounce figure in the description are why it ranks where it does.

Read the Item Dimensions row on each listing. The Encore is 5.91 by 5.12 inches of floor but stands 13.39 high, so it takes a corner and may not take a cabinet clearance. The Sette (5.12 by 9.45 by 14.96) and the DF64 II (9.84 by 5.12 by 11.81) claim more floor than the Encore at 5.91 by 5.12, the KRUPS at 7.28 by 4.41 and the OXO at 7.5 by 5.3, and the Sette is the tallest listing figure here at 14.96 inches, so if your counter runs under cabinets, measure the Sette against the clearance first.

Usually honesty you should reward. The KRUPS title names espresso and its bullet then tells you to use the two finest settings and freshly roasted beans for it. That is not a warning. It means the match to your brewer is something you decide, not something the page is selling you.

The verdict

Sorted by fit, the page is three answers. If you brew more than one way and want one machine for it, the Baratza Encore is the listing whose own bullet writes out the method range you shop from, espresso through automatic drip, in one sentence. If you want the coffee made without you standing there, KRUPS and OXO are the automation pair: the KRUPS counting cups for a mixed household, the OXO holding 12 ounces of beans and remembering a timer for the daily batch. If espresso is the hobby, know which person you are: the Sette 270Wi is for people who already own a scale and want the dose built into the chute, and the MiiCoffee DF64 II is for people who want a stepless dial and accept a seller warranty as part of that. Every figure this page quotes is one you can go and find on the linked listing today. Where a listing contradicted itself, we left the contradicting number out and said so, which is the promise this page can keep.
