The best standing desk converters of 2026

Five sit-stand desk converters, ordered by the desk and the setup each one suits. Every spec number on this page comes from the maker's own specification page or from the linked listing, and each figure is attributed to the surface it came from rather than presented as ours.

A converter is a platform that sits on the desk you already own, not a desk with its own legs, so the whole decision turns on fit: how deep your desk is, how wide a surface you need, and how far you want the thing to rise. That last one is harder to compare than it looks. Across these listings the same two labels, minimum height and maximum height, are used for two different measurements, one of them the distance the platform travels and the other its height above the desktop. So this page states each lift figure per product, in the maker's words, and does not line them up in a column. The order below follows the setup each converter fits, not a measurement.

Ergotron

Ergotron WorkFit-TX Standing Desk Converter, 32 Inch

9.1/10JellyReviews Score

The pick when the desk is shallow and you want the platform to rise a long way. Ergotron publishes a 20 inch lift and documents the unit fitting a desk 24 inches deep, because it moves straight up rather than back, and the maker says it folds to within 2 inches of the desktop. The keyboard tray is the real separator: 3 inches of independent offset, listed as its own spec field, where the WorkFit-TL tray is fixed to the worksurface. The 5 year warranty comes from Ergotron and the unit ships assembled. Two cautions. The weight figures on this listing do not agree, and Ergotron publishes a 32 inch footprint width for this model against 37.5 inches for the WorkFit-TL; those figures describe occupied desk width.

Pros
Ergotron's own product page gives a 20 inch lift (50.8 cm) and a 32 by 27 inch footprint on the same spec block, so both figures come from one surface instead of two
The keyboard tray moves independently of the worksurface: Ergotron lists 3 inches of separate offset as its own field on the spec table, where the WorkFit-TL tray offset is given only as a fixed distance below the worksurface
Part number 33-467-921 on Ergotron's page matches the number on the Amazon listing, so the exact model is pinned by a join rather than inferred from the brand name
Ergotron states a 5 year warranty and says the unit ships fully assembled, with no mounting or clamping required
Cons
Two weight figures disagree and neither is safe to quote as a product weight. Ergotron lists 58.2 pounds as product weight and 68.1 as shipping weight; the Amazon Item Weight field prints 68.9. The maker separates the two quantities, the retailer field does not
Ergotron publishes a 32 inch wide footprint for this model against 37.5 inches for the WorkFit-TL, so the TX occupies less desk width. Those figures do not establish usable worksurface width. Rocelco publishes a worksurface, so its figure is not compared with either footprint
Rated for screens up to 30 inches, so a larger panel is outside the maker's stated range

37.5 INCH FOOTPRINT, 15 INCH LIFT
Ergotron WorkFit-TL Standing Desk Converter, 37.5 Inch

Ergotron

Ergotron WorkFit-TL Standing Desk Converter, 37.5 Inch

8.9/10JellyReviews Score

The option for a desk that can take a wider footprint: 37.5 by 23 inches, against 32 by 27 for the WorkFit-TX. Ergotron lists the tray at 27.3 by 10.8 inches, against 28 by 8 on the WorkFit-TX: less width, more depth, and the comparison only makes sense if you say which. Ergotron lists a 15 inch lift, 10 to 40 pounds, a 5 year warranty, and assembly on arrival. The trade is lift against occupied desk width: the WorkFit-TX rises higher, while this model occupies more desk width, and the tray here is fixed to the worksurface rather than adjustable on its own. The maker says it fits a 24 inch desk, the same minimum as the TX.

Pros
A 37.5 by 23 inch footprint, against 32 by 27 on the WorkFit-TX above, with a 27.3 by 10.8 inch keyboard tray, both read from Ergotron's own spec block
Part number 33-406-085 on the maker's page matches the Amazon listing, the same join that pins the WorkFit-TX
Ergotron publishes a 15 inch lift (38.1 cm), a 10 to 40 pound capacity, a 5 year warranty, and states the unit ships fully assembled
Documented by the maker as fitting a desk 24 inches deep or larger, and rated for screens up to 30 inches
Cons
The keyboard tray is not independently adjustable, which is the clearest functional difference from the WorkFit-TX above
The 15 inch lift is shorter than the 20 inches Ergotron publishes for the WorkFit-TX, so on a low desk a tall user may run out of rise
The keyboard tray dimensions disagree between surfaces: the Amazon bullet says 27 by 11 inches, Ergotron says 27.3 by 10.8. Neither figure is quoted above as fact

RETRACTABLE TRAY, ANY HEIGHT
Rocelco 37.5 Inch Deluxe Standing Desk Converter

Rocelco

Rocelco 37.5 Inch Deluxe Standing Desk Converter

8.7/10JellyReviews Score

The one to look at if you want the platform to stop wherever you let go, and a tray that slides out of the way when you are not typing. Rocelco publishes continuous travel from 5 to 17 inches above the desktop, a retractable tray that extends and locks, and a 37.5 by 20.5 inch surface rated to 35 pounds. Rocelco also lists a grommet hole that takes a monitor mount, so a single monitor can be mounted rather than stood on the surface. The warranty term is 1 year, against 5 years on the two WorkFit models above and a lifetime term from VERSADESK, and the maker publishes no minimum desk depth, so measure your own desk before ordering.

Pros
Continuous height adjustment from 5 to 17 inches above the desktop, rather than a set of fixed stops, so you can stop anywhere in that range
The keyboard tray is retractable: it extends, retracts and locks
A 37.5 by 20.5 inch worksurface, and the maker states a 35 pound capacity
The maker lists a grommet hole that also accepts a monitor mount, so a single monitor can be mounted rather than stood on the surface
Cons
Rocelco states a 1 year limited warranty, against 5 years from Ergotron on both WorkFit models and a lifetime term from VERSADESK below
The keyboard tray dimensions disagree between the two surfaces: the maker page says 29 by 11.5 inches and the Amazon bullet says 29.3 by 11.6. No tray size is quoted above, because neither surface can be preferred from the evidence
Rocelco publishes no minimum desk depth, so fit rests on the 20.5 inch worksurface alone rather than on a stated requirement

PUSH-BUTTON ELECTRIC
VERSADESK PowerPro 36 Inch Electric Standing Desk Converter

VERSADESK

VERSADESK PowerPro 36 Inch Electric Standing Desk Converter

8.5/10JellyReviews Score

The electric option, and the reason to choose it is the button rather than the numbers. If reaching down to release a hand brake or push a lever is the part you want to avoid, this is the model here that adjusts under power. VERSADESK states a lifetime warranty and an 80 pound rated load, and the SKU on the maker's page encodes the 36 inch black variant exactly. What the maker does not publish is the dimensional detail the Ergotron and Rocelco pages do: no lift figure, no worksurface depth, no tray size. If you need to compare those measurements before buying, this listing will not let you.

Pros
Electric push-button adjustment. VERSADESK raises the platform under power, where Ergotron lists hand-brake levers on its three models and Rocelco describes a gas piston assist
VERSADESK states a load rating of up to 80 pounds, and the maker states a lifetime warranty
Ships fully assembled according to the maker
The maker's own SKU, VDPP3624-BB, encodes the exact variant, 36 inch width in the black frame, which pins the product more precisely than a title does
Cons
VERSADESK publishes no lift figure, no worksurface depth and no keyboard tray dimensions in text on its product page. The size selector carries a 36 by 24 label, but that is a selector name rather than a published worksurface measurement, so none of those three fields is quoted above
An 80 pound load rating is a rated capacity, not a statement about how the platform behaves under a load, and the two are not the same claim
An electric mechanism is a different ownership question from a hand-operated one: there is a motor and a power lead here, which the three Ergotron models and the Rocelco do not have

SMALL DESKS FROM 22" DEEP
Ergotron WorkFit-Z Mini Standing Desk Converter, 31 Inch

Ergotron

Ergotron WorkFit-Z Mini Standing Desk Converter, 31 Inch

8.3/10JellyReviews Score

The compact one, and the one to consider first if your desk is small rather than merely shallow back to front. It measures 31 by 21 inches, and Ergotron publishes a 22 inch minimum desk depth for this model, against 24 inches for both WorkFit models above. Rocelco and VERSADESK state no minimum depth at all, so nothing here shows those two cannot fit a small desk. The device slot for a phone or tablet is 11 by 1.8 by 1.1 inches on the maker's spec block. The limits are real and stated: a 12.5 inch lift, a 25 pound capacity and a 24 inch screen ceiling, all from the maker, and those three are what to check against your own setup before choosing this one.

Pros
A 31 by 21 inch footprint, against 32 by 27 on the WorkFit-TX and 37.5 by 23 on the WorkFit-TL, and Ergotron publishes a 22 inch minimum desk depth for this model where Rocelco and VERSADESK publish none
A device slot measuring 11 by 1.8 by 1.1 inches, listed on the maker's spec block, for a phone or tablet
Part number 33-458-917 on Ergotron's page matches the Amazon listing
Ergotron states a 2 year warranty, says the unit ships fully assembled, and lists it as Clean Air GOLD certified. The finish is a grey woodgrain, where the WorkFit-TX, the WorkFit-TL, the Rocelco and the VERSADESK are each listed in black
Cons
Ergotron publishes a 12.5 inch lift, which is shorter than the 20 inches for the WorkFit-TX and the 15 for the WorkFit-TL, and it is rated for screens up to 24 inches, against 30 inches for those two
Rated to 25 pounds, which the maker states as the unit's capacity
The keyboard tray dimensions disagree between surfaces: the Amazon bullet says 24 by 9 inches and Ergotron says 24.5 by 9.1

How to choose the right standing desk converter

01The height number is not one measurement

This is the trap that decides whether a comparison is worth anything. On these listings the same two labels, minimum height and maximum height, are used for two different quantities. Sometimes the pair is the distance the platform travels. Sometimes it is the platform's height above the desk.

Ergotron publishes the WorkFit-TX as a 20 inch lift. The listing's own spec panel prints 2 inches and 20 inches under the height labels, because for that model the panel is holding an absolute height, not the travel. Rocelco states its range as 5 to 17 inches above the desktop, which reads as position rather than travel. Set those side by side in one column and you would be subtracting an absolute height from a lift figure and calling the result a ranking.

So this page does not carry a height column. Each lift figure is stated against the maker that published it, and you should read your own requirement the same way: measure the height you want the keyboard to sit at, then check that number against the maker's own page for the model you are considering.

02Footprint and worksurface are different measurements

Ergotron publishes a footprint for its WorkFit models. Rocelco publishes a worksurface. VERSADESK publishes neither in text, only a 36 by 24 label on a size selector.

A footprint is the space the whole unit occupies, including the part that reaches over or behind the desk. A worksurface is the area the monitors stand on. They are different numbers describing different things, and a table that mixed them would tell you a product was deeper than it is.

That is why the specs on this page are quoted per product, in the term the maker used, rather than collected into a single depth column.

03What a load rating does and does not tell you

Every converter here carries a rated capacity, from 25 pounds to 80. That figure is the load the maker rates the mechanism to hold. It is not a measurement of how solid the platform feels, and nothing on this page treats it as one.

A high rating does not make a converter a better converter. It makes it one that can be loaded more heavily. If your monitors, laptop and accessories come to well under the lowest rating on this page, then capacity is not the field that should be deciding your purchase, and fit is.

04The published weight figures are not directly comparable

Two of the Ergotron listings carry a product weight on the maker's page and a different figure in the Amazon Item Weight field. The maker separates product weight from shipping weight, which is why Ergotron lists two numbers, 58.2 and 68.1 for the WorkFit-TX. For that model the Amazon field prints 68.9, larger than either.

The published labels do not make these figures directly comparable. Ergotron separates product weight from shipping weight, while the retailer's Item Weight field does not say which quantity it reports. So no weight is quoted for comparison on this page. If you need to know what you are lifting onto the desk, take the product weight from the maker's own specification block rather than the listing field.

05Match the part number before you trust the listing

The three Ergotron models here each carry a part number on the maker's page that matches the Amazon listing: 33-467-921, 33-406-085 and 33-458-917. That join is what confirms the listing and the maker's specs describe the same object.

It matters because the families are wide. Ergotron sells more than one model at the same 37.5 inch width, and Rocelco sells this converter in two colours under two different ASINs with an identical title and the same stated weight. A listing that names the right brand and the right family can still be a different unit.

If a maker publishes no part number, the SKU or model field is the next best join. VERSADESK encodes the width and frame colour into VDPP3624-BB, which pins that variant even though the maker publishes no dimensional specs.

06Who issues the warranty, and for how long

The terms differ more than the hardware does. Ergotron states 5 years on the WorkFit-TX and WorkFit-TL and 2 years on the WorkFit-Z Mini. Rocelco states 1 year. VERSADESK states a lifetime term.

Each of those is the manufacturer's own stated warranty rather than a retailer plan, which matters when you need to use it: the claim goes to the maker, and the maker is the party whose published terms apply. If a long warranty is what you are buying, that is a legitimate reason to pick one of these over another, and it is a field the makers publish in full, which is not true of the dimensional figures above.

§ 04 · FAQ

Questions about standing desk converters

It depends on how deep your desk is, and among the three makers here only Ergotron publishes a minimum. Ergotron states that the WorkFit-TX and WorkFit-TL fit desks 24 inches deep or larger and that the WorkFit-Z Mini fits a desk 22 inches deep or larger. Rocelco and VERSADESK publish no minimum desk depth, so for those two the published worksurface is the figure you have to work with. Measure your desk before ordering and compare it against the figure the maker prints.

There is no universal number, because the right height depends on your own seated elbow height and the height of your desk. Ergotron publishes a 20 inch lift for the WorkFit-TX, 15 inches for the WorkFit-TL and 12.5 inches for the WorkFit-Z Mini, and Rocelco states continuous adjustment from 5 to 17 inches above the desktop. VERSADESK publishes no lift figure at all. Sit at your desk, measure the height you want the keyboard at, and check that against the maker's own figure for the model you are considering.

It means the maker rates the mechanism to hold more weight. Ergotron rates the WorkFit-TX and WorkFit-TL at 10 to 40 pounds, Rocelco at 35 pounds, VERSADESK at up to 80 pounds, and Ergotron rates the WorkFit-Z Mini at 25 pounds. Capacity is a load rating, and nothing on this page treats it as a measure of build quality.

Electric means you raise and lower the platform with a button. VERSADESK is the model here that works that way, and the maker states a lifetime warranty and an 80 pound load rating for it. The three Ergotron models use hand-brake levers and the Rocelco uses a gas piston assist, so those four are raised by hand. Among them, the WorkFit-TX adds a keyboard tray that adjusts independently of the worksurface. An electric unit has a motor and a power lead where the others have neither.

Rocelco lists a grommet hole on this model that also accepts a monitor mount, so a single monitor can be mounted rather than stood on the worksurface. The three Ergotron models publish screen-size limits instead: 30 inches for the WorkFit-TX and WorkFit-TL and 24 inches for the WorkFit-Z Mini.

Ergotron states that all three WorkFit models here ship fully assembled with no mounting or clamping required, and VERSADESK states the same for the PowerPro. Rocelco states that its converter is completely assembled and ready to go. None of the five requires assembly according to its maker, though you should still expect to lift the unit onto the desk, which is worth checking against the product weight on the maker's own page rather than the retailer field.

The verdict

If your desk is 24 inches deep and you want the platform to rise a long way, the WorkFit-TX is the one to open first: Ergotron publishes a 20 inch lift, documents the 24 inch desk fit, and gives its keyboard tray 3 inches of travel independent of the worksurface. The WorkFit-TL occupies 37.5 inches of desk width against the TX's 32, while offering 5 inches less lift; those footprint figures do not establish usable monitor space. Its tray is deeper than the TX's at 10.8 inches against 8, though narrower at 27.3 against 28. Pick the Rocelco when you want continuous adjustment and a tray that retracts out of the way, and read the 1 year warranty term before you do. The VERSADESK is the electric one, adjusted by push-button where the three Ergotron models and the Rocelco are raised by hand, and it is the model whose maker publishes no lift, depth or tray figures, so choose it for the button and check the dimensions with VERSADESK directly if you need them. The WorkFit-Z Mini is the answer for a small desk: Ergotron publishes a 22 inch minimum desk depth for it, against 24 inches for the two WorkFit models above, and its 12.5 inch lift and 24 inch screen ceiling are the limits that come with that.
